Ebook: Sixteenth Century Counterpoint

Sixteenth-Century Counterpoint uses a workbook format to present a comprehensive and practical introduction to counterpoint. The book is divided into two parts. In the first part, each chapter begins with paired 'Process' and 'Resources' sections. In each Process section, students are provided with the definition and explanation of a counterpoint element (Melody, Voice Motion, Dissonant Vertical Intervals, etc...). The paired Resources sections are a discussion of the musical principles, rules, and constraints required for each Process. Part Two is a direct approach to free composition.
