About the Author: Alexandra Mary Makin is a trained professional embroiderer with a background in Archaeology and textiles. Her academic background includes a BA Honours degree in Archaeology and a PhD in Anglo-Saxon Studies (undertaken within the English Department, University of Manchester). Her PhD Research has led to her representing the University of Manchester on the BBC local news, BBC Radio 5 Live and a Channel 4 Time Team Special. Various papers have been presented as a result of this research. Alexandra also has a special interest in the Bayeux Tapestry.
