Ebook: Zerrissenes Bewusstsein: Der Intellektuellendiskurs im modernen Japan

Based on a discourse analysis of representative debates between 1920 and 1970 and applying Bourdieu’s theory of the literary field, this study describes the emergence, role, and self-understanding of the modern Japanese intellectual during the inter-war and post-war periods of the 20^th century and creates a portrait of the writer as an intellectual.
