Largely neglected by researchers but nonetheless ubiquitous in everyday speech are names for political and cultural events, goods and services, and institutions (i.e. schools, teams). Recent coined names for persons and places (i.e. user names, climbing routes) also fall under this category. Typically classed in the literature as “other types of names,” these richly diverse “orphans of onomastic research” are the focus of the volume.
