Volume II of the two-volume interpretation of Nietzsche’s writings contains previously unpublished or considerably extended studies of Nietzsche’s ambivalent concept of freedom in a world which he interpreted as chaos. Nietzsche’s denial of free will in its conventional sense leads to the development of freedom as an instinct understood as the will to power. This instinct finds its formed and formative expression in the ‘pride’of the solitary person. According to Nietzsche, decadence in art points to the decline of the power of human freedom. In his interpretation of global processes, Nietzsche also borrows ideas and concepts from contemporary economics. Nietzsche’s notion of chaos is sharpened and deepened by the idea of the endless eternal return of the same.
