This volume brings together twelve contributions written by the historian Jürgen Zarusky, who died unexpectedly in 2019. The texts reflect the central topics of his research, which can be summarized using the keywords political justice, dictatorial rule, resistance, and persecution. Memory politics constitute another problem area that was of constant significance to him, as he saw the profession of contemporary historian as a political role.
