Ebook: Trishashti Shalaka Purusha Caritra
This is the English translation of the Trishashti Shalaka Purusha Charita (literally “The lives of the sixty-three illustrious People”), a Sanskrit epic poem written by Hemachandra in the twelfth century.
The work relates the history and legends of important figures in the Jain faith. These 63 persons include: the twenty four tirthankaras , the twelve chakravartin, the nine balabhadras, the nine narayanas and the nine pratinarayanas.
The Sanskrit title of this work is: Triṣaṣṭiśalākāpuruṣacaritra (त्रिषष्टिशलाकापुरुषचरित्र), but alternative titles include:
Triṣaṣṭiśalākāpuruṣacarita,
Triṣaṣṭi-śalākāpuruṣa-caritra (or carita).
Triṣaṣṭiśalākāpuruṣa-carita,
Triṣaṣṭi-śalākā-puruṣa-carita,
Alternatively, the title can be transliterated to:
Trishashtishalakapurushacharita,
Trisastisalakapurusacaritra,
Trisasti-salakapurusa-carita (or caritra, charita, charitra), also spelled like salaka purusa.
