杭州摊簧产生于清代中期，属于叙唱类的曲艺品种。其基本艺术特征是带有歌唱性，有说有唱，以突出声腔坐唱戏文为主。传统曲目一般由演员五至七人，分生、旦、净、丑角色，各操三弦、琵琶、胡琴等乐器，自奏自唱。一人饰一角或多角，用模拟性的表情和动作来刻画人物、叙唱故事。
