The main modern and classical methods of integrated environmental studies of inland reservoirs of the Arctic zone, allowing to determine the state of the ecosystem, are presented. Methodological recommendations on the sampling of water and sediments for the chemical composition analysis, as well as a variety of hydrobiological samples (plankton, benthos, ichthyofauna), are given. A list of the necessary equipment, instruments and materials for expeditionary work and office processing of the samples obtained is given. The diatom analysis of sediments is described for paleoecological reconstructions of long-term changes in the environment and climate. A review of existing methods for assessing the quality of water on various abiotic and biotic indicators applicable to the water bodies of the Arctic zone was carried out. The problems of modern bioindication of the quality of the aquatic environment in high latitudes are analyzed. The monograph is intended for students of environmental, hydrobiological and hydrochemical areas, and may also be useful to certified specialists hydrologists, hydrochemists, hydrobiologists, ecologists, geochemists, geoecologists in conducting research on the chemical composition of water, sediments and hydrobionts of freshwater systems for assessing the quality and ecological state of Arctic reservoirs.
