Ebook: Der Andere in der ideologischen Vorstellungskraft: Die Linke und die indigene Frage in Mexico

Starting from the questions of what happened to socialist thought in its reception and further development in Latin America and how cultural difference was dealt with from a socialist perspective, the study is devoted to the positions of the left in Mexico on the indigenous question in the "short 20th century". In the field of tension between culturally entrenched ideas about the ethnic other and socialist ideology, representations of the indigenous are analyzed, programmatics of emancipation are examined, but also political neglect is traced. The book considers its subject matter in a variety of settings and contexts: transnational, national, and local, from politics to academia to the visual arts.
