Written to be a valuable learning aid and reference book for anyone interested in photography, APPLIED SURVEILLANCE PHOTOGRAPHY is primarily addressed to law enforcement, investigative and security personnel who have a basic knowledge and background in photography. Both still and motion picture photography are discussed.

The main objective of this book is to enable law enforcement and investigative personnel to effectively photograph a subject under various field conditions whether it be at night using infrared materials or ultra-high-speed film or during the day using extreme telephoto lenses.

A chapter on infrared photography for night work discusses in detail how the traditional infrared range of about 50 feet or less can be easily and inexpensively exceeded to photograph in the 150 to 200 foot range.

Although several of the techniques discussed are quite advanced, they are presented in common everyday language so as to make it possible for one with a basic knowledge in photography to make use of the book. Not intended to be a deep technical manual, this how-to-do-it book points out ways to cut costs and effectively complete the photography job at the same time.
