This textbook presents the basic structural forms of bridges, culverts, and some other artificial structures used on the Russian railway network. Data on the technical condition of artificial structures and the organizational structure of infrastructure management of JSC "Russian Railways"are presented. The following issues of operation of artificial structures are considered: current maintenance (supervision and repair) ; surveys and tests of bridges, including the organization of monitoring of the technical condition of structures; the procedure for calculating the load capacity of spans and bridge supports; determining the conditions for passing train loads on bridges and strengthening the load-bearing structures of bridges, if necessary; reconstruction of bridges and culverts.
