This volume provides a set of studies focusing on the analysis of research conducted to date on the toponymy of the various regions of Spain, as well as in identifying gaps in the investigation of place names, ie , items not yet undertaken and remaining areas of study, also broadly outlining the prospects for future research. The chapters have been written by experts in the study of place names in each region investigated, according to a consistent methodology: (1) exposure of the state of the question, specifying the areas under investigation and review of existing work collection and interpretation of names, (2) work that still needs to be done: not yet served geographic areas and historical-linguistic strata still untested, and (3) research projects in progress. This collective work is of exceptional not only for specialists in the Spanish language and its dialects, but in other Romance languages and Romance, since it includes chapters on the toponymy of bilingual communities in the country: Galicia, Asturias, Catalonia, Baleares, Valencia, Basque Country and Navarra.
