The volume covers the area of Korean Studies in the widest sense, from history, religion, language and literature, to politics, international relations, and issues related to North Korea. Reflecting the wide range of perspectives of a multi-disciplinary conference, this proceedings volume is legitimately diverse in both subject matter and methodology. Despite their eclecticism, the papers share as a common denominator an interest in contemporary (often unsettling) aspects of Korean culture and society, as well as the reflection and influence of the past upon present-day Korea.
