Taxonomic minds and the technological construction of confidence -- The social construction of confidence -- Competing sciences of biblical interpretation -- Dispensational hermeneutics -- Building the dispensations -- Engineering time -- The Scofield Reference Bible amidst a dispensational century.;In the 20th century, dispensationalism developed into a global religious movement claiming millions of adherents. Scholars have most often associated it with literalist, apocalyptic prophecy belief, and described it as the militant, anti-modernist fringe of American Protestant fundamentalism.
