Adobe Flash CS4 Professional Digital Classroom (Yes, DIGITAL CLASSROOM... not the classroom in a book version)
I paid $50 + tax at Barnes & Noble for that book. Then I bought Flash CS4 for Dummies for $30.
I read digital classroom first, and went through every video tutorial on the companion DVD. There were, if I recall correctly, 2 videos that had missing work files, but it wasn't a big deal. That book was EXCELLENT... but it did leave me hanging in a few spots where I'd wonder HOW something would work, and WHY it would work.. instead of just how to make it do what I wanted. That's where Flash CS4 for Dummies became useful to me. It goes into a little more detail into the how/why, rather than "it just works".
That being said, I definitely don't think it could stand on its own... it's not hands-on enough to be a beginners guide/tutorial.. but it does make a great reference I would say.. which may have been what they were targeting in the first place, I'm not sure.
The actionscript 3.0 section in the book though, leaves much to be desired.
Anyway.. buy it or not, it won't be the end of the world either way. But I DO highly recommend Adobe Flash CS4 Professional Digital Classroom... it's fantastic.
