This is a volume of essays on philosophy and film, part of the rising trend among philosophers to incorporate reflections on film into their theorizing. This is an area with a lot of unresolved issues (a "philosophical reading" of film can mean many things) and this collection focuses on some of the tension between the philosophy of film as traditional aesthetics and as part of the new cultural criticism.
