David Miller's book is a technical and very well instantiated try to rescue Popper's philosophy of science from massive criticism focused on puzzling details. As the argument goes, well-known objections to Popper's conjecturalism & falsificationism tenets are exposed and pondered, then rephrased and revived. Addressing the classical epistemological jargon aimed at giving scientific knowledge its distinctive trait -- justification, foundation, empirical basis, good reasons, truth, certification -- Miller argues us to surrender them completely. He then addresses the related Popperian concepts, revisiting notions like corroboration, truthlikeness, falsifiability. All these notions are submitted to an ordeal in detail. Eventually, he restates them under the guise of a reborn version of critical rationalism, tailored to be vindicated against drawbacks of Popperian epistemology.
