Microbially Influenced Corrosion provides a strong overview of the topic. For engineers and microbiologists new to the topic, it's a fine survey. Like any monograph that attempts to cover an area of research in which new information is becoming available, readers who have been keeping current in MIC research will find the information a bit dated. However, the excellent tables and photomicrographs do a wonderful job of illustrating MIC concepts for those who aren't aware of the range of effects that microbes can have on infrastructure integrity. Treatment of a diverse range of materials - including concrete and polymer-fiber composites (AKA Fiberglass) - is particularly helpful for those of us who spend considerable time explaining than MIC of metals is only part of the story.
The tome is well written, and well illustrated.
