This work continues the story of the men and women of the Terman Study through the years of later maturity, with most of them in their sixties and seventies. It provides unique insights into the determinants of successful ageing. The longest life cycle study in social science was begun in 1921 by Lewis Terman, when the intellectually gifted subjects were children. The Terman men and women have reached an age that poses challenges physical, psychological, social - quite different from those of earlier life stages. The book presents information on educational and career history, avocations, physical and mental health, and constraints on opportunities for women. The focus is on how well these exceptional men and women have met the challenges of old age. The book includes analyses of antecedents and correlates of later life outcomes. A number of case studies are included.
