In this book, Laurence Danlos has achieved a rarity in the history of the tangled relations between AI and Linguistics. She has managed to do a piece of research which is a contribution to both fields. And she has managed to work at the intersection of those fields. She has taken linguistics research done in the style of her professor, Maurice Gross, and adapted it to the style of research done in AI. Thus, she has managed both to do a successful job in descriptive linguistics and to make sure that those descriptions were relevant to process models that might employ them by actually building such a model. Her AI program produces good sentences, and her linguistics model has proved up to the task.
