this book is a great place to start. i could not figure out what the _heck_ was going on with sharepoint dev. i got this book, read all the way through it and did most of the "labs". when i was finished, i was able to go on to other books, like pattisons. yes, some of the examples are console apps, but i understood console apps when i didnt understand what a feature was. again, great place to start.
