This wide-ranging book explains clearly the basic concepts of forest ecology. Its primary purpose is probably to be a text-book for undergraduates but it works also for people generally interested in forest ecology. A good thing is that there are examples from all over the world, although some of the examples outside British Isles and Central Europe have small errors. Some of the given examples have directly been rewritten from abstracts of scientific papers. Unfortunately, all the discussed concepts and taxa cannot be found from the index.
