Produced by the International Energy Agency, this report analyzes the economic status of China's natural gas industry and makes recommendations for further development of the sector. The report finds that cheap coal competes with gas sales and that China is pursuing a "supply-push" strategy that is unlikely to succeed on its own. They recommend the creation of long gas lines, further opening of the sector to foreign capital, and the promotion of gas for electricity generation.
