New York: Alfred A Knopf, 1926. - 254 pgs. Dr. Stieve was on the staff of the German Foreign Office. This book is a selection of documents from the diplomatic correspondence of A. P. Isvolsky, Russian ambassador in Paris, from Stieve's four volume work Der diplomatische Schriftwechsel Iswolskis 1911-1914. The majority of documents were taken from the collection published by the Soviet Government in 1922. The thesis presented is that Isvolsky worked to bring Germany into a war with Russia from 1911 onward, and from 1912 was abetted by French President Poincaré. Chapters are devoted to the year 1911, the relationship between Isvolsky and Poincaré, the First, Second, and Third Balkan Wars, and the eve of the World War.
