Ebook: Les emprunts linguistiques dans le débat sur la langue en Russie: d'une révolution à l'autre

No. 3, p. 11-35.This article deals with Russian linguists' positions about loan words from the October Revolution to the latest perestroika ; this analysis is based on the writings that R. Jakobson, S.I. Karcevski, E.D. Polivanov, A.S. Seliscev, and, at the present time, A.D. Dulicenko, devoted to the question. In fact these linguists'attitudes are always closely connected with the political background : from tolerance and opening to the outer world in the twenties to normalisation and restriction during Stalin's years. The last linguistic study, written in the present days by A.D. Dulicenko, as surprising as it can appear, means a return to the ancestral Russian tradition of conservatism and fear of the outer world. The linguistic discussion about loan words reveals in fact the eternal Russian dilemna between specificity and universalism.
