R.A.S. Forlong Fund, Vol. XVII, pp. 92 — London: Royal Asiatic Society, 1938.
Christensen divides the dialects spoken in Persian three main groups: the south-west group which comprises the dialects of Fārs and the Lūr tribes, the western group comprising the Kurdish dialects, and the central group comprising the dialects spoken between the Caspian littoral, the great desert and the Bakhtiyāri Mountains, which area corresponds roughly to the ancients Media.
The three dialects recorded in this volume belong to the last named group. The dialects of Meime and Jawshaqān are members of a sub-group which embraces the dialects of the Semnān district and the neighbourhood of Kāshān, of Isfahān to the borders of the great desert (Nāyīn).
The third dialect, the dialect of Velātrū and the the neighbouring villages, belongs to the sub-group formed by the Caspian dialects.
