Arthur Conan Doyle (1859—1930) was a doctor. He started writing when he was 20, and wrote 60 books.
In 1887 he wrote A Study in Scarlet, his first book with Sherlock Holmes, the famous detective, in it.
He wrote his Brigadier Gerard books in 1896 (The Exploits of Brigadier Gerard) and 1903 (Adventures of Gerard).
