Putijarra is a Pama-Nyungan language belonging to the Nyungic South-Western Group. It is one of the Wati subgroup related to the Western Desert Aboriginal Languages.
Today only a few speakers of Putijarra remain, located at Jigalong, Newman and Yandeyarra.
This publication consists of a Putijarra-English wordlist, English-Putijarra Finderlist, Topical worldlist and sketch morphology.
Example sentences in the morphology were taken from a series of stories told by Daisy Charles. These texts appear to have some content from the related languages Kartujarra and Martu Wangka, thus some words and suffixes appearing in example sentences may not appear in the Putijarra wordlists if known to be from another language. The morphology is an initial draft and suggestions for further research are outlined in the final section.
