Johann Nikolaus FORKEL (1749-1818)
was an enthusiastic admirer of Johann Sebastian Bach.
He wrote the first complete biography of Bach in 1802, one which is of
particular value today, as Forkel corresponded directly with Bach's sons Carl
Philipp Emanuel and Wilhelm Friedemann. He thereby obtained much valuable information
that would otherwise have been lost.
London.1820.
