Effective management of employee safety and health protection is a decisive factor in reducing the extent and severity of work-related injuries and illnesses and their related costs. The construction industry safety and health standards contained in this 2002 booklet are to aid employers, supervisors, and safety and health personnel in their efforts toward achieving compliance with OSHA standards in the workplace. Although the digest does not contain all OSHA construction industry safety and health standards, those presented are standards most frequently overlooked by the employer and those covering particularly hazardous situations. The standards are presented alphabetically followed by the reference to the appropriate regulation. With few exceptions, standards in this digest are from Title 29 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Part 1926.
