Mannerism and Anti-Mannerism is a basic study, by a great scholar, of two major styles of painting in sixteenth century Italy. In this work Professor Friedlaender presents Mannerism and early Baroque as distinct autonomous movements, and establishes their aesthetic and historic importance.
